     - "Who is the happiest man you have ever seen?"

Thinking himself the happiest man in the world, he was furious when Solon named a lowly Athenian who had a loving family and had died honourably.

     - "The question you asked me I will not answer until I know you have died happily !"   Solon explained.
     - "Look to the end, no matter what it is you are considering. Often enough, God gives a man a glimpse of happiness, and then utterly ruins him..."
